How To Display Leaded Glass Window In Garden

  • Hi Maria, they would look lovely in a deep frame with strip LED lights between the window and the back of the frame.

    • You would see the clips ,,,right!

You cannot hang these with the lead came. It is too soft. Frame them in wood and add hooks then hang them.

  • do you have a window you could hang them in so the light comes through them ?

I used an eye hook and a small chain in the same color to hang my leaded glass

    • How would I attach a chain? Could someone that knows how to sodder….do it… not sure if that's the correct way to spell it….. but it means attaching something to metal I believe. Also, how do you figure how much weight a hook can safely hold?

  • I'd frame them. You can do it yourself or have a framer do it. I have a round stained glass piece that came with a hook on the top but after a while, the weight of it made the glass slightly pull away from the metal strip around the glass. I'm going to have a square frame made for it so I can hang it again.

These would look cute in a kid's playhouse (when I was a kid I would have loved this as it would lend a girlie vibe to a playhouse). Up high of course for safety reasons. But they would allow more light to come in a display a rainbow of color also. They could be inset into a wall as windows.

Can also see this in a greenhouse.

    • If I can't find a use for them inside I would definitely use then outside in my garden. Do I need a professional to put hooks on the back or is this something I can DIY??? There were no hooks originally because they were in a cabinet .

  • You could build a simple frame by making it just for the sides and bottom. That arched top would be tricky. Then eye hooks and chain would be a pretty easy way to hang.

  • I would frame them and hang them in a window.

  • Yes you would see the clips

  • They would be beautiful mounted in a frame above an entrance door.

  • You could prop them up on a nice console table, that way you wouldn't have to worry about hanging them.

Hello Maria: You can frame them, put a chain on the sides and hang them on a window. Or, get a framed mirror that's larger than the panes, glue the panes to the centre of the mirror and then hang them as wall decorations.

    • I like this idea. I'm thinking in an interesting frame with a neutral backdrop, although I d rather leave them where you can see the light coming through. Kits to think about .. my wheels are turning 😉

You can do the mirror thing, only on the back, remove the reflective bit that makes it a mirror on the 4 larger rectangles and leave the middle bit a mirror. I know it has a name, but I have a cold and my brain is mushier than usual.

  • You could have someone frame them and them use eye screws to hang the framed pieces. They are very pretty!

I would build a frame and hang them on a window. You can use heavy duty command hooks they hold a lot of weight.

  • Until you can find a permanent location for them, they would lend themselves well to being 'backdrop walls' for a Christmas diorama display.

Put coloured tissue paper behind the individual panels to make it look like real stained glass, and use fairy lights for dimension.

  • You can add wire to them by soldering then hang from the wire.

I was just thinking how beautiful these would look with the morning sun shining thru while you sit and have a morning cup of coffee. Do you have a window you could hang these in? One that receives morning light would be nice.

    • Yes. But they have nothing to hang them with. That's what I'd like to know if I can do something myself or get someone professional to do it. I'm not

looking to spend a lot of money since I'm not sure how they'll turn out. I could probably bring them to a stained glass studio

  • Fit them into a Picture frame and hang from that. Otherwise Solder on to the Lead some hooks. A glass or mirror shop might do it for you!

  • They are gorgeous and you should absolutely incorporate them into a couple of windows. I have no professional advice on installing them, but I would call a contractor!

  • How about using as art on the wall

  • Very pretty! I would get two plate holders and display them as standing pieces in a bookcase or on a shelf.

  • You might be able to use clear fishing line to fashion a holder for each piece by tying off each corner diagonally, then tying the line to those corners to hang on a small nail on any wall you choose. They are beautiful!
