Does Sulfur Stay In Your Garden Once You Put It In
Garden centres will remain open during England's second lockdown taking place from Thursday 5th November until Wednesday 2nd December.
In the government's latest guidance for the new month-long measures, all non-essential retail will be required to close (except for delivery and click-and-collect) to reduce social contact, but this time around, garden centres have been listed as 'essential retail'.
'Essential retail such as food shops, supermarkets, pharmacies, garden centres, hardware stores, building merchants and off-licences' are businesses permitted to stay open, as they provide essential goods or services, reads the official government guidance.
However, 'indoor attractions at botanical gardens, heritage homes and landmarks must also close, though outdoor grounds of these premises can stay open', they confirm.
In light of this, the Royal Horticultural Society has issued an updated statement intending to keep its garden centres open 'to ensure that people can continue to garden and grow plants, indoors and outdoors' and, it's four RHS Gardens – Wisley, Harlow Carr, Hyde Hall and Rosemoor – will remain open for visitors too during the new month-long lockdown across England.

The UK's four nations are adopting different measures: while England is entering a month-long lockdown, Scotland's new five-tier system comes into effect on 2nd November. Meanwhile, Wales' two-week firebreak lockdown will end on 9th November, and Northern Ireland's partial lockdown will end on 13th November.
During the first UK lockdown towards the end of March, garden centres had to close their doors to the public, which had a detrimental effect on Britain's horticultural industry.

The Horticultural Trade Association (HTA) said the coronavirus outbreak could cost the UK gardening industry £200 million, as thousands of plants grown for the summer season were set to be binned. Around 650 businesses, many of them family-run, faced a complete loss of income, while others were unable to take on the debt of a government loan.
At the time, broadcaster and gardener, Alan Titchmarsh MBE, called for the reopening of garden centres, while the RHS – which is currently expecting losses of up to £18 million this year – highlighted the importance of government help. 'If steps are not taken to support the growers that underpin one of Britain's favourite past times and £24.2 billion industry, then many of these businesses will cease to exist, and vital growing skills will be lost to the country,' the RHS warned.
